Hello, my friends,
In my wildest dreams (accidental Tay Sway reference here), I would only be sending you like two of these newsletters a year and sparing your inbox the rest of the time, but instead here I am again with more to share with you, because as always, I want to be sure I’m telling you things first.
With that in mind, I wanted to 1) remind you of the release week parties happening across the U.S. next week, because while a lot of them have sold out, there are still a bunch with space for you, and I’ve sent some very fun surprises to these! Plus, since this book is partly about how hard it is to make friends as an adult, so it feels so fitting to be putting it out into the world in this way: with over two-hundred stores making space for book lovers (unintentional Em Hen reference) to get together, bond, maybe argue about their book rankings, shop, eat, drink, etc, etc, etc. I hope you check one out, and I hope you have a great time! And also for those of you outside the U.S. who’ve been asking about release parties in your home countries, I’m sadly not aware of any BUT !!! I’m hoping stores are taking notice of your interest in that kind of thing, because there WILL be more books, and if this little experiment goes well, I suspect we’ll have some cool new stuff to play with next time around, here in the states and beyond. To find a party near you, you can check out the hub here.
Now! Once you’ve celebrated with your fellow readers, if you’d like to join me for a (virtual) hang out, I would so love to see you at either of my upcoming events!
On April 24, at 7pm ET, I’m going to be chatting with one of my favorite writers and all-around sparkly person, Jasmine Guillory via my hometown indie bookstore Joseph Beth. You can get your tickets here.
The next night, on April 25, I’ll be talking to another of my favorite writers and the black cat to my golden retriever, Yulin Kuang. You can get tickets for that here.
I’ve also just signed a ton of stock for both of these stores, so if you haven’t managed to score an autographed copy yet, it’s worth reaching out to these shop to find out if you still can!
So those were the first two things I wanted to tell you, but there’s actually one more thing that was very important for me to tell you about FIRST.
Next week, at release, Out of Print and I are launching another collaboration for Funny Story! I’m so, so, so excited about these, and have been living in one of the new sweatshirts for a week, despite the fact that I spilled coffee on it within five minutes of putting it on. It’s so cute and soft and cozy, and the perfect thickness for transitional weather imo.
I would say I’m about… 90% sure I’m forgetting to tell you something, so sorry in advance for potential follow-up emails later this week.
In the mean time, here are some books I’ve been reading and loving.
Colton Gentry’s Third Act by Jeff Zentner
It’s Elementary by Elise Bryant
Blue Graffiti by Calahan Skogman
Darling Girls by Sally Hepworth
Between Friends and Lovers by Shirlene Obuobi
The Truth According to Ember by Danica Nava
The First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston
That’s all for now. Until I remember what I’m forgetting.
xo,
Em
P.S. Fave grocery store treat right now is this surprisingly good store-bought guacamole.
